From AI awareness to shipped modules in three months.

Context

A software house focused on public-sector projects faced sharpening tender requirements that demanded demonstrable AI capability. The engineering team was experienced in conventional technologies but had not yet shipped a production AI system, and had no internal frame for how to do that safely.

Problem

The capability gap was concrete. Engineers understood how LLMs worked at a conceptual level, but had not developed the patterns required to design, ship and maintain RAG architectures, evaluation harnesses and AI-augmented features under public-sector security and procurement constraints. Awareness without traction was costing the firm tenders.

Solution

We designed and delivered a dedicated AI for Developers programme. It rejected lecture-based delivery in favour of hands-on workshops where participants built real prototypes against the firm's own project backlog. The deliverable was code, not certificates.

Implementation

The engagement opened with a competency audit to calibrate the curriculum to the team's starting point. The training path covered prompt engineering, retrieval-augmented generation architectures, AI security patterns relevant to public-sector deployment, and evaluation methodology. The programme closed with an internal hackathon where teams built end-to-end prototypes, judged on technical quality and fit to live projects.

Outcome

The engineering team shipped three new AI modules into the firm's products within three months of programme completion. Confidence in proposing and delivering AI work rose measurably. The firm became competitive in tenders that had previously been out of reach. The AI Ambassadors developed during the programme continued to support adoption after delivery.
